SUMMARY:A Two-Day Workshop on Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Engineering 2019
LOCATION:Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturin
g IIITDM Kancheepuram\, Chennai
DESCRIPTION:
The average temperature of the earth is rising at nearly twi
ce the rate it was 50 years ago leading to global warming. This is mainly
due to emission of CO2 by industries\, thermal power plants and vehicles.
To mitigate the emission of CO2\, countries worldwide have planned to ban
the production and future sale of IC engine-based vehicles. India also has
decided to ban IC Engine based vehicles from the year 2030. Therefore\, i
ncluding India whole world is promoting electrical propulsion system in al
l the fields. The Indian government has formulated a Faster Adoption and M
anufacturing of (Hybrid &amp\;) Electric Vehicles (FAME India) scheme in t
he year 2015 to promote manufacturing of electric and hybrid vehicle techn
ology and to ensure sustainable growth of the same under the National Elec
tric Mobility Mission 2020 to encourage the progressive introduction of re
liable\, affordable\, and efficient electric and hybrid vehicles in the co
untry. Globally\, the electric car stock is projected to reach 20 million
by 2020 and 70 million by 2025. India itself is estimated to see 30.81 mil
lion electric vehicles sales by 2040. Energy prices\, environmental concer
ns\, and fuel economy targets are driving the demand for hybrid and electr
ic vehicles and this fuels the demand for skilled technicians and talented
engineers. Most automobile companies are vowing to switch to electric\, a
cleaner and sustainable alternative. There is a surge in demand for skill
ed workforce in electric and hybrid vehicle technologies. But the industry
is facing a shortage of aptly skilled workforce needed for the transition
. This two-day workshop aims at addressing the lacuna and delivers the fun
damentals\, advanced knowledge and hands-on lab sessions in design\, analy
sis\, control\, calibration and operating characteristics of Battery EV (B
EV) and Hybrid EV (HEV).
