Biomedical optics has become one of the most inevitable fiel d in the recent research in clinical diagnosis and treatment. In this cour se\, we will learn about the fundamentals of biomedical optics\, starting from how the photon interacts with a single atom\, to a diatomic species\, and then with polyatomic species such as haemoglobin. You will learn the basics of spectroscopy and different imaging modalities such as fluorescen ce\, UV-Vis-NIR\, diffuse optics\, polarization\, Speckle contrast\, and m ultimodal imaging. You will also learn about fundamental and advances in t he field of optical biosensors and various plasmonic resonances. We will a lso discuss the principles and details along with demonstration of various microscopic imaging such as brightfield\, phase contrast\, fluorescence a nd polarization-based microscopy.
The Department of Electronics and Communication\, IIITDM Kancheepuram is organizing the 4th Edition of Winte r School on Biomedical Optics (WiSBO ’26-27) at IIITDM Kancheepuram-Chen nai\, India between 27th December to 30th December. The participants (abou t 40 to 50) will be PhD students\, Faculty members\, and Industry particip ants working in the field of biomedical optics throughout India.
