About Event

Srijan is the biggest socio-cultural festival of eastern India which has been in limelight since 1977. It has around 20,000 footfall from more than 200 colleges across the country every year and having prize money worth more than INR 7.5 lakh. It offers a wonderful platform where participants from different part of the country get a chance to interact, enhance and demonstrate their creativity, personality and talents

HUSTLE HERD (GROUP)
Duration of each performance: 12 minutes on stage including stage set up.
Other rules and regulations:
● Music piece should be 7-10 minutes and it must not contain inappropriate,
lewd or offensive language.
● Minimum 5 and Maximum 28 participants are allowed in the group dance.
● Props/Substances used during performance or clothing that may affect
the clean dry surface of the stage and the safety of fellow competitors are
prohibited.

STREET BEAT
Rules:
Participants must strictly follow any of the following styles Hip-Hop,
Popping, Tutting, Crumping, Breakdance, Stepping, B-Boying, Contraptions
and Western Free Style.
Team size – 4 to 12 members.
PRELIMS:
• Time limit: 4 to 6min (length of music track).
• Live music is not allowed.
• All costumes and accessories have to be arranged by the
participating team. Naked flames & live animals are not allowed
• Participants should get their songs /music on a CD and a pen-drive.
• In case of malfunctioning of any equipment provided,the team will be
allowed to repeat their performance from the beginning or from the
point of disruption that the team wishes,with the consent of the judge.
• The decision of judges and the organizing team will be final and
binding.
Final:
• At the time ofspot registration, each team would be provided with
3music tracks (1+1+1 minutes) for preparation .Teams are supposed
to bring their own ortable music players. Different teams would be
provided with different music tracks.
• The teams are to choreograph and prepare to dance to the music
tracks provided to them .The total performance duration ofeach team
would be 3 mins
• During the event, every 2 teams would be grouped together and given
a slot. The music tracks of the tem in a slot would all be shuffled and
olayed continuously
• The team should be ready and should perform whenever their allotted
tracks are played.
• The one minute of each performance would be considered from empty
stage to empty stage i.e. the entry onto and the exit from the stage
would be included in the performance
• It is not necessary that all the members of the team should perform all
times.
• Stage specifications:360 degree open area.

Can you bind the audience to your performance and take them on a journey
of emotions and action? Are you passionate about breathing life into your
character? Create magic on the wooden stage and leave an impression with
your expressions and transitions. The stage is set. It awaits your Grand Act-
Rangmanch.
Duration of play: Maximum 75 minutes

Rules And Regulations:
• The act should be in English or Hindi or both.
• Naked flames or live animals are not allowed on stage and will result
in disqualification.
• The performance can be an original or an adaptation. There are no
constraints regarding that. Inappropriate content, religious blasphemy
and vulgarity/bawdiness will not be tolerated.
• The teams are expected to bring their own music on CD or pen drive
for the play.
• All costumes and accessories are to be arranged by the participating
team. The organizing committee is responsible for the infrastructural
facilities only and shall not be responsible for the security of items left
behind in green rooms or on stage after the performance.
• Requests for special effects and props should be communicated at
least a week in advance by both email and over the telephone. The
same will be provided only if possible.
• The participating teams are requested to ensure that their
presentation is in keeping with the dignity of the fest.
• The judges’ decision will be final and binding.

HALLABOL
Clear those throats and rack your brains for SRIJAN-18’s very own street
play competition ‘HALLABOL’. Drum it up, break the barriers, let your voices
be heard by one and all and compete with some of the finest and most
enthusiastic teams from colleges across the country. If there’s a social
message you want to spread, this is the place to be.
Duration of each play: Maximum of 25 minutes + 5 minutes
Maximum No. of participants: 5-25
Rules And Regulations:
• Exact copying of scenes/ due to applause shall not be considered for
negative marking.Scripts from any play or any similar source is not
allowed. The team will be disqualified if found so. However
adaptation/modifications from other street plays and any previous
production of your own club, is allowed.
• The act should be in english or hindi or both.
• Plays with social relevance are expected.
• Use of fire (even diyas, candles or lighters) and water is not allowed.
• Teams have to bring their own costumes.

About
How often have you had lyrics lingering in your mind, tickling your brain to
pen it down?
You seek a moment to scribble it, read it, cherish it, and then treasure it. At
times your work is so impounding that you want to just shout it out loud.
This Srijan, we give you the opportunity to pour your heart out in front of
everyone. So, take your pens out of your scabbards and show us what you
got….!!
This is a simple poem recitation event. The participants will have to recite a
self-written poem on-stage. They will be judged on the basis of all the
aspects regarding the content as well as their recitation skills.
Note :- Contestants from IIT(ISM) DHANBAD have to face a preliminary
round for Kavyanjali in which top 20 contestants will be eligible for main
event.
Rules:
1. The content should be authentic.
2. The poem has to be written in hindi only.
3. Use of offensive words based on Sex, religion and institution are strictly
prohibited.
5. Each contestant will be given 10 minutes to recite his/her poem.
6. Contestants will be graded on the basis of creativity, authenticity,
language, presentation etc.
7. Contestants are also requested to send their poems in digital form
to chayanikaIIT@gmail.com for ease of judgement.
8. Violation of any of these rules may lead to disqualification.

Chai Pe Charcha
About:
The Chai Pe Charcha debate competition is an intense and humorous
debating contest in which the best minds around shall wrestle, for a battle of
wits where only those with the wittiest tongue shall win.
And the best part, the debates shall take place, sipping tea together.
Rules and Judging Criteria:
1. The medium of debating must be Hindi.
2. The event will take place in multiple rounds, with disqualification in each
round.
3. All rounds will be presidential style debates.
4. The total time allotted per debate is 8.5 minutes. The time division is as
follows: Speaker 1 - 1.5 minutes, Speaker 2 - 3 minutes, Speaker 1 - 1.5 minutes,
Direct question - 1 minute, maximum 2 questions, Direct question - 1 minute,
maximum 2 questions, Concluding statements - 15 seconds each.
5. Speakers can mutually decide the nature of topic for the first round i.e. Hasya
aur Gambhir, in case of indecisiveness coin toss will take place. For subsequent
rounds topics will be distributed by the organising team.
6. There will be a coin toss to decide the side in debate, Speaker 1 being
proposition.
7. The participants will not be allowed to read out from any material but will be
allowed to carry plain papers to jot down any points if required.
8. Exceeding the time limit will result in penalty.
9. The decision of the judge is final.
10. Judging Criteria:Content of Speech - 40%, Expression - 30%, Questions posed
& Answers - 30%.
11. Any correspondence with the judge should be through the organizing team
member.
12. The first few rounds shall be judged by senior members of society, the
subsequent rounds shall be judged by ___.
13. Any form of misbehaviour or abusive language will lead to disqualification of
the team.

AAROH- THE SOLO SINGING COMPETITION
Venue-Penman Auditorium
REQUIREMENTS-

• Laptop for playing karaoke.
Rules:-
• Eastern and Western Vocals will be judged separately.
• Each Performer would be given a total time of 5 minutes on stage.
Exceeding the time limit will cause deduction in marks.
• Each Performer is allowed to carry maximum of two instrumentalists
with them on stage to accompany him/her in their performance.
• The performer is also allowed to sing on pre-recorded karaoke track.
The performer will have to arrange for the karaoke track himself and
submit it to the organizers prior to the event.
• Judging would only be based on the level of singing in the
performance.
Judging Criteria:-
Judging will be done purely on basis of singing potential evaluating tone,
scale, rhythm, pitch, voice modulation and overall connect with audience.

RULES:-
• The bands need to perform their songs on an acoustic setup i.e.
without any electrical aid to the instruments and the keyboard can
only be played on the grand piano mode.
• The band will be given a maximum time of 12 minutes for
performance + 3 minutes for sound setup. Negative will be awarded if
time exceeds the allotted time.
• There is no restriction on the genre of songs performed.
• Drum set will be provided to the bands. Bands need to arrange for
their instruments themselves.
JUDGING CRITERIA:-
Judging would be done on basis of the Band’s connect with the audience,
range of songs performed and overall quality of performance.

PAIR ON STAGE
About the event.
Pair on stage calls on stage a pair of performers, and gives them a freedom
to perform whatever they wish to. Any combination of instruments or vocals
or both is allowed.
Venue: OAT(OLHC)
Duration: Maximum of 8+2 mins (for sound check) per team.
Other rules and regulations:
Any individual can’t be a part of two teams.
Only the two performers will be allowed on the stage throughout the
performance, including sound checks
Only live looping (this is also a skill) and Tanpura will be allowed.
Pre-recorded stuff (sequencers, pre-recorded loops etc) and backing tracks
will not be allowed.
Penalty:
Exceeding the time limit will cause deduction of 5 marks per minute.
After 12.5 minutes, the team will be asked to leave the stage along with a
penalty of 20 marks.

Creative Canvas
About the event
FotoFreaks presents Creative Canvas, celebrating the greatness of the fineart
of Image Editing and Retouching, one of the most important aspects of
Digital Photography. A set of 6 images (in .DNG/ .NEF/.CR2 format) will be
provided by the ORGANISERS (A google drive link will be provided). The aim
of the participants is to edit/retouch these images in the best and most
creative way possible.
RULES:-
• The maximum number of submissions per person is TWO.
• There are no rules as such to what extent the images can be edited.
• One or several of the supplied images must be recognizable as the
central part of your design. (The final image should not lose the main
subject / most important object in the image)
• Photos can be blended as per the participants wish.

Participants can enter into the event at 10:00,12:00 and 14:00 hours.
Entries can be submitted any time before 6:00 PM.
Participants will be provided an A2 sheet and a drawing board only. They will have to
bring other materials of your own and are free to use their any drawing
equipment/material
(E.g. pencils, charcoal, colours etc.) they want.
No external help (e.g. Internet) is allowed during event.

6.QUIZIAPA EVENTS.

About
Starting from the basic level and concluding at the grand level, the
programme is structured so as to take maximum number of participants in
its fold and finally award the ultimate winners. There would be two rounds
for general quiz competition First round would be the qualifying round.
Rules:-
1st round = 25 general questions.
2nd round = Top 8 teams would be selected for stage round.
A written test will be held at the fixed venue which is open for all
participants. The questions will be set in such a way so that they test the
general knowledge and intuition of the students and judging their general
awareness. On the basis of this prelim test, top teams will be shortlisted for
the final. All important instructions will be provided by the quizmaster.
Moving on to next level, teams selected from prelim round will clash with
each other on a unique audio-visual platform to prove themselves. There
would be 5 rounds of back to back quizzing, each round based on different
formats of quizzing.
The top 3 teams would be awarded with certificate and cash prizes.

7. LITERARY EVENTS.
Stand up
About
One of the events of the fest, which involves the combined art of storytelling,
stand-up and poetry writing, Stand-up happens to be the funny bone
event of Literary genre. The event tantalizes the audience with the creative
art of making people laugh to enchant the audience and fill their hunger of
happiness and fun. The event is a milestone for those in the field of stage
and life presence, the stand-up comedy competition is the way for the
comedian and the audience to know the world more and more and not only
see its dark but also the happy side, the funny side.
Rules:
● Participants have to prepare a sketch of 6-8 min to be performed in front of the
live audience
● Mono-acting or any form of music is not allowed during performance
● Props are allowed but carry no weightage. Participants can use it to enhance the
performance.
● Only English and Hindi is allowed
● Obscenity is not allowed
● Slot distribution will be random. Participants are requested to be present 1 hour
prior to the event.
Penalty:
● Exceeding the time limit will cause deduction of 5 marks per minute. After 10
minutes, the
participant will be asked to leave the stage along with a penalty of 10 marks.

Poetry slam
About
One of the events of the fest, which involves the combined art of storytelling,
stand-up and poetry writing, Poetry Slam happens to be the flagship
event of Literary genre. The event attracts poetry enthusiasts to enchant the
audience and fill their artistic hunger. The event serves instrumental in
recognizing and promoting the budding poets. With additions of newly
popularised culture of mesmerising and serene background music, the event
shall be a delight to those who solicit refuge in poetry.
Rules
1. Poems can be on any subject and in any style like humorous poems, bear
poetry,
jazz poetry,etc but must be original composition in English, plagiarism
shall result in immediate disqualification.
2. Multiple rounds won’t take place and there will be no elimination.
3. Participants may carry piece of paper or phone to which they may refer to
while
recitation.
4. There is no limit on no. of participants. Distribution of slots shall take
place randomly.
5. Use of props, special costumes, live musical instruments or pre-recorded
music is totally allowed but under the assumption that the performance still
remains a poetry and doesn’t transfigure itself into a song, drama, etc.
6. There is no upper limit of participants from a particular college. The
judging shall
however be done individually.
7. Time limit is four minutes. After four minutes, there is a 10-second grace
period after which a penalty of 0.5 is automatically deducted, without
warning, from each poet's overall score for every subsequent 10 seconds.
8. The judges’ will give each performance a score from 0 to 10.
9. Judges’ decision is final and binding.
10. The organizing team reserves the right to change or modify the rules.
Judging Criteria
The participants will be judged on the basis of their content, expression,
dynamics of recitation,poetry intricacies like rhyme or meter(not applicable
for all), audience response and overall appeal on a scale from 0-10.
WORD WARS
Basic requirements-
1. 1 or 2 NLHC capacity rooms depending on number of participants for first
round.
2. Projector, whiteboard/blackboard.
Event rules-
1. There will be two rounds. First will be a one hour written quiz,
involving word puzzles like word ladders, word pyramids,
anagrams, riddles, spoonerisms, puns etc.
2. Based on the scores of the first round, top 6 teams will be
selected for round 2.
3. 2 nd round will be a more interactive round with Pictionary,
Taboo, JAM and crypto-cipher quotes etc.
4. 2 nd round will last 1 to 1.5 hours.
5. The two rounds can either be done together or on separate
days.
6. Over-all, people with a better vocabulary, or those who like to
solve puzzles, will win.
